University of Kansas School of Law Core Faculty

Joseph Custer , JD, MLS, is Associate Director of the University of Kansas Wheat Law Library and Collection Development Librarian. He holds degrees from the University of Missouri, the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, and the University of Northern Iowa. He came to the KU Law Library in 1995 as collection development/reference librarian from the Gage & Tucker firm in Kansas City. In 1998 he was promoted to associate director. He teaches legal research, advanced legal research, and topical advanced legal research in the KU School of Law.

 

Barbara Ginzburg , MLS, is the Assistant Law librarian for Technical Services with at the Florida A&M University College of Law. She holds degrees from Emporia State University and the University of Kansas. She began working at the KU Law Library in 1993 as cataloging assistant and was promoted to automation/technical services librarian in 1998. She accpeted the position at FAMU in 2003. She is responsible for maintenance of all library computers and software and oversees the library's cataloging department. She also evaluates and selects electronic databases for the library; provides legal reference for law school faculty, students, and the public; and teaches legal research in the first-year lawyering program.

Michael Hoeflich , JD, PhD, is the John H. & John M. Kane Professor of Law in the University of Kansas School of Law. He holds degrees from Haverford College, Cambridge University, and Yale Law School. He was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore 1979-80; taught at the University of Illinois 1980-88; was dean of the Syracuse University College of Law 1988-94; and was dean of the University of Kansas School of Law 1994-2000. He is an internationally recognized authority on legal history, Roman law, and the history of the legal profession, and is author or editor of six books and more than 60 articles. He is also a columnist for theLawrence Journal-World.He teaches contracts, legal ethics, real estate finance, and legal history.

 

 

Robert Mead , JD, MLS, is Head of Public and Faculty Services with the University of Kansas Wheat Law Library. He holds degrees from the University of New Mexico Emporia State University. He came to the KU Wheat Law Library from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2000. He practices disability law, especially special education litigation. He teaches legal research, advanced legal research, and topical advanced legal research in the KU School of Law.

Joyce McCray Pearson , JD, MLS, is Director of the University of Kansas Wheat Law Library and Associate Professor of Law. She holds degrees from the University of Washington, Washburn University, and Wichita State University. She came to the KU Law Library in 1994 as Electronic Services Librarian, having previously worked with the University of Louisville Law Library. In 1995 she was named Associate Director of the library and in 1997 she became Director and Associate Professor of Law. She teaches law and literature, legal research, and advanced legal research in the KU School of Law.
