The admission criteria for the MLS also hold for the IMC. Applicants must demonstrate the following characteristics:
- intellectual promise and leadership potential
- an assertive personality, sensitive and responsive to the needs of others
- intellectual curiosity and flexibility necessary for creative problem solving and application of theory to practice
- fluency in oral and written communication
- emotional maturity and stability
Application procedure
Application to the IMC program requires submission of two forms - one to the Graduate Office and to the SLIM IMC Coordinator. Scroll down for more detail.
Form 1. The Graduate Office application
Graduate Office certificate program procedures require an applicant to complete and submit the Application for Admission to Graduate Study form. This form is the same used for application to the MLS program but the some important differences apply for IMC applicants:
- The application is waived for students already enrolled at SLIM
- No transcripts are required.
- For "Degree Objective" write Certificate, and for "Area of Concentration" choose Information Management
Please be aware that you must fill out the entire form.
Form 2. The SLIM IMC Coordinator application
Complete and mail or email the Information Management Certificate Application form (pdf). Send the form as an email attachment to the IMC Coordinator at lchase@emporia.edu or mail it to SLIM, Campus Box 4025, Attn: Dr. Lynne Cooper Chase, Emporia State University, Emporia KS 66801.
The IMC Coordinator will contact you to schedule an entrance interview once both application forms are received and processed.
