New Librarians: Challenges and Opportunities

Library and Information Science students and recent graduates are invited to attend and participate in Sofia 2004: Libraries, Globalization and Cooperation, an international conference organized by the School of Library and Information Management, Emporia State University and the Department of Library and Information Sciences, University of Sofia, Bulgaria "St Kliment Ohridski." The conference will include a student session, New Librarians: Challenges and Opportunities, focusing on the interests and perspectives of library school students and new librarians.

The half-day session will be on the afternoon of 2 November 2004. The session will feature presentations of papers, discussions, and a poster session in which students and recent graduates can showcase and share ideas and projects, and have opportunities to meet colleagues from around the world.

Just added as part of Student Session: Publishing for students and new professionals

Linda Ashcroft, Editor of New Library World from the well-known publisher of library and information science journals Emerald Publishing, will offer a workshop on publishing. She will discuss the importance of having your work published, techniques for finding journals in which to publish your work, and things to consider when writing for publication. Publishing can be confusing and overwhelming for new professionals, so Linda will clarify the process and answer questions.
