Sofia 2002 is part of a highly successful international conference series hosted in Kansas City, Kansas (1995), Warsaw, Poland (1997) and Sofia, Bulgaria (2000). The series is designed to explore the impact of globalization and change on the development of libraries, information infrastructures and society.

Sofia 2002 will bring together a wide range of experts in library and information science; infrastructure, technology, international development and policy from the U.S.A., Canada, Western Europe as well as Central and Eastern Europe.
