Tour Information

Three tour options are available:

 

Week-long Tour – 15-22 November

Join Balkan Connections to tour the length of Bulgaria, passing from the plains to the mountains and finally to the Black Sea. Price per single room:  US$1289

DEPOSIT OF US$200 IS DUE BY SEPTEMBER 1 TO ENSURE A PLACE; FULL PAYMENT DUE BY SEPTEMBER 25

Fees include transportation by professionally driven coach bus; tour guide, translator and American assistant; accommodation in 3 star hotels starting night of 15 November; breakfast and evening meals (with wine or beer at evening meals); soft drinks or water on the bus; and transportation to/from the Sofia Airport.  Also included is the One-day Excursion in Sofia!

One-day Excursion to Rila – Saturday, 15 November

Don’t have time for the longer tour?  Join us on a one-day excursion to the beautiful Rila Monastery following the conference.  The stunning frescos decorating the monastery make it a UNESCO World Heritage site that you cannot miss.

Escape into the countryside as we are transported by coach from the Rodina Hotel to the Rila Monastery through the Rila Mountains.  The fresh air and views from this mountaintop monastery will take your breath away!

This excursion costs US$85, and includes lunch, to be paid on-site.

One-day Excursion in Sofia

Have you not had time to set foot outside the hotel?  Would you like to explore Sofia in more depth?  Join Balkan Connections for a one-day tour of Sofia and many of her archeological treasures, including Serdica Gate, the 5th century St. Georges Church, the Archeological Museum, the Icon Museum, beautiful Nevski Cathedral, and a short trip by coach to Vitosha Mountain to visit Boyana Church and the National History Museum (including a tour led by the Director of the Museum).  There will be time for shopping along the way at the vendors at Nevski Cathedral, where you will find hand-worked linens, an array of interesting antiques, and hand-painted icons.  Lunch is included.

This excursion costs US$78, based on a minimum of 15 participants.
