Sofia 2008 is the fifth meeting of an international biennial conference series that has been hosted in Kansas City, Kansas (1995), Warsaw, Poland (1997), and Sofia, Bulgaria (2000, 2002, 2004, & 2006). This conference series has proven to be extremely popular, having attracted attendees from more than thirty countries. This series is designed to explore the impact of globalization and change on the development of libraries, information infrastructure, and society.
With the theme of Globalization and the Management of Information Resources, Sofia 2008 will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, November 12-14, 2008. The School of Library & Information Management, Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, USA; the Department of Library and Information Sciences, "St. Kliment Ohridski" University of Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria; the University of Kansas Libraries, Lawrence, Kansas, USA; Seton Hall University Libraries, South Orange, New Jersey, USA; Kansas State University Libraries, Manhattan, Kansas, USA; and the University of Northern Colorado Libraries, Greeley, Colorado, USA, are once again proud to host the conference.
Sofia 2008 will provide interested library and information managers, archivists, and museum professionals with the opportunity to analyze, map, discuss, and seek solutions to the numerous challenges facing their institutions in a global Web 2.0 setting.
