Keynote Speaker


The 2006 Conference will feature Keynote Speaker, Michael Gorman, President of the American Library Association and Dean of Library Services at the Henry Madden Library, California State University, Fresno. SOFIA 2006 CONFERENCE PROGRAM


The School of Library & Information Management, Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, USA, the Department of Library and Information Sciences, “St. Kliment Ohridski” University of Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria and Seton Hall University will hold a bi-annual conference, which provides interested library and information science professionals the opportunity to discuss the many issues facing libraries.

Sofia 2006 is part of an international conference series hosted in Kansas City, Kansas (1995), Warsaw, Poland (1997), Sofia, Bulgaria (2000, 2002 & 2004). This series is designed to explore the impact of globalization and change on the development of libraries, information infrastructure, and society.
Sofia 2006 will bring together a wide range of experts in library and information science, infrastructure, technology, international development and policy.

THE 2006 CONFERENCE


The Fourth Bi-annual Conference of Globalization, Digitization, Access, and Preservation of Cultural Heritage will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria 8-10 November, 2006. The University of Sofia, Emporia State University and Seton Hall University are proud to host the conference.

Sofia 2006 is under the patronage of his Excellency Mr. Georgi Pirinski, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Bulgaria. Mr. Pirinski was a member of the past four National Assemblies as well as the 7th Grand National Assembly, and has served in his current post since November 11, 2005.
