SLIM Faculty

Dr. Ann O'Neill

Ann O’Neill is the coordinator of SLIM’s undergraduate Information Resource Studies (IRS) program. She holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MLS from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to joining SLIM she was Director of the Office for Accreditation at the American Library Association. Dr. O’Neill was a faculty member of the College of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina, where she taught courses in acquisitions, serials, collection management, and subject analysis.

Dr. O’Neill’s dissertation is an investigation of the communication of research and professional knowledge in nursing. She has also published and presented papers of the topics of library and information science education, continuing education for technical services, and serial and book vendors. She has worked in acquisitions and serials in academic libraries in California, Arizona, and North Carolina.
