SLIM Expands MLS Program in Portland, Oregon
– EMPORIA,
KS
The School of Library and Information Management (SLIM), Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, is expanding its distance education program in Portland, Oregon to allow students to start the Master of Library Science degree program every summer. The innovative program combines weekend intensive courses with an online learning environment to allow for flexible degree plans to fit the work and family schedule of the adult learner. Classes are held at Portland State University about once or twice a month.
Emporia State University has offered its MLS program in Portland since 1994 and nearly 300 residents of the Pacific Northwest have earned the degree without ever having to attend classes at the Kansas campus. The MLS program receives its accreditation from the American Library Association.
